The Oklahoma Highway Patrol worked an accident Tuesday that occurred on Interstate 40 near the 309 mile marker near Sallisaw that resulted in a Florida woman being transported to UAMS in Little Rock.

According to the OHP report, a 2000 Country Coach motor home driven by Cef Suarez, 69, of Clermont, Florida was eastbound on the interstate when a blow-out caused him to run off the outside of the roadway, down an embankment and crash into a group of trees.

A passenger in the motor home, 62-year old Debra Suarez, suffered trunk and leg injuries as well as internal damage. At 11 p.m. on Wednesday a spokesman for UAMS said the woman was listed in stable condition.

No one else was injured in the accident and officers on the scene were able to maintain solid traffic control and keep traffic moving on the interstate.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Sequoyah County Emergency Management team and Sallisaw Fire Department were all part of the responding and investigative agencies on the scene.
