FORT SMITH- Deputy Chief Danny Baker will be taking over as Interim Chief of the Fort Smith Police Department effective next week.
Baker has been with the department since 2001 and was promoted to Deputy Chief from Captain during October of last year.
The decision follows the resignation of the current Chief Nathaniel Clark which was announced last week. Chief Clark is leaving the department to take a new position as Police Chief in Forest Park, GA.
Chief Clarkâs last day with the department will be April 8th, 2019.
